Take some time out for yourself and explore your hidden talent! Learn professional techniques that will inspire you to create your own beautiful art. Whether you’re coming in as a complete beginner or wish to further your knowledge, art classes are a perfect place to get creative, learn and make new friends along the way.
Classes will be limited {no more than 10 per class} so students will get more personal, individual attention. Complete beginners are welcome on all courses as well as the more experienced and differentiated lesson plans are given accordingly, so no one will feel out of their depth.
Students learn new techniques in a short space of time and are often amazed at what they achieve during a course. They say that they find it a lot of fun, as well! Not only that, some students who started out as complete beginners are now showing their work at established art exhibitions.
Also, now there is a free, personal service offered to students for further guidance if they may wish to finish their art work at home!
You will learn about the type of papers, drawing materials and paints that are most appropriate for the medium you will be using.
You will be taught the understanding and application of tonal values, textures, perspective, proportion, composition, positive and negative abstract shapes, that help create professional drawings and paintings.
You will be working from images or from life and demonstrations will be given. You will be helped every step of the way!
Materials and equipment will be supplied for lessons, so there is no need to buy for classes!
Three-hour morning classes at: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
Two-hour evening classes at: 7.15 pm to 9.15 pm
PRIVATE TUITION is a separate service from the courses and for those unable to attend group classes, or just wish to have one-to-one personal tuition at home to fast-track their knowledge.

CHILDREN UNDER 16 YEARS
There have been some requests for children to attend one or more of the courses available. The courses are primarily aimed for adults over 16 but if a parent/guardian also books the same course for themselves in addition to a child over twelve years old, this option is now available. (Please discuss via a phone call before booking.)
Also, before booking any of the following courses, it is recommended that you phone, or text Nina first. (You can just leave a message to phone you back at a convenient time for you.) It can be helpful to know if you are a beginner - or a more experienced artist who may just wish to try out a different medium to the one you are used to.
COURSES

3-week course PENCIL /CHARCOAL
3-week course SOFT & OIL PASTELS
Learn how to use pencil grades that will create form and tonal values into your drawing to give them three-dimensional effects. (Now with pen and ink option for returning students.)
With charcoal, you will learn similar skills, as well as applying textural applications into your artwork.
Learn various techniques in using soft pastels and oil pastels and see how different they are in their application processes, for very different outcomes.
3-week course WATERCOLOURS
3-week course ACRYLICS & GOUACHE
Learn how to create the wonderful transparency of watercolours, using wet-on-wet and glazing techniques and how to overlay one colour over another that this medium is known for. With acrylics, a popular medium, you will learn how to combine them with other mediums, such as Impasto. They are also, very forgiving! Learn to use gouache, that is often used for illustration in flat areas of colour.
All very different -and exciting mediums!
The 12-WEEK DISCOUNTED COURSE is a compilation of the four 3-week courses.
This 12-week course allows you to explore each medium of the separate 3-week courses and helps you discover preferences to focus on. (It is particularly useful when choosing to buy your own materials for use at home, for example.)
In this course, you will learn how to use the correct papers/substrates to work on and professional techniques that are most appropriate to the medium. This comprehensive course will help you to achieve the effects you want!
PORTRAITS (Dates available in 2024 (Please phone to enquire.)
Portraiture is now very popular after the arrival of a certain TV programme! In one week of a 3-week course, you will be working from images and learn construction, proportion, tonal values, angles and perspective. Then you will be working from a live model, applying theory into the practice! Your knowledge will be applied across various media. All materials will be supplied in lessons. Explore your inner talent now!
New, special 'YOUR CHOICE' 3-week course at the end of a 12-week cycle of courses, for those wishing to use one of the mediums of their own choice.
(Also, for those who may wish to bring in unfinished artwork to class for further guidance, or to try out another medium.)
